China Helps Realize Bali as Community-Based Tourism
Authority of China promised to help Bali in creating the community-based tourism. Indeed, this bijou island has such tourism potential model. In China itself, there had been people’s homes that had directly functioned as tourist accommodation, and even its facilities could parallel to the five-star amenities.Similar model will also be implemented in Bali to empower the communities later on. Therefore, they would be able to delight in the sweetness of tourism in person. This concept resembled to the tourism village in Bali, said Mangku Pastika after attending the plenary session of the Bali House not long ago.
According to the Governor of Bali, China had also been ready to build a coal-fired power plant. He ascertained that development of such coal-fired power plant at Celukan Bawang, Buleleng, should be ready to work on by November 2010 and accomplished in 2012. This electricity supply with 340 MW power would be undertaken in three stages.
He added it constituted an investment concept or business and not a loan fund. The result of the electricity produced by the company would be sold to the state-owned electricity or PLN to supply the electricity demand throughout Bali.
Additionally, Governor of Bali observed that China would also help realize the green Bali Province. There would be one company in Shanghai, China, which was ready to help create the green province. The method taken was by working with the United Nation Environment Program (UNEP) which would help in the field of green economy.
According to Governor of Bali, the three elements posed an agreement made with China for Bali when performing a working visit together with the Vice President Boediono, not long ago.

Badung Craft Products Potential to Penetrate China’s Market
Economic and trade cooperation between Indonesia and the Bamboo Curtain country are opened widely for further development. The relationships are not only developed through large-scale industry and tourism but also through the craft industry.Such condition was described when the Regent of Badung Anak Agung Gde Agung together with the Chairman of the Badung House, Made Sumer, and Chairperson of the Badung Handicraft Council (Dekranasda) Mrs. Ratna Gde Agung made a visit to Badung crafters sent to join the Shanghai Expo 2010 last weekend in Shanghai, China. The craftsmen under development of Dekranasda Badung participating in the expo included painters, sculptors and coin sculptors.
The Regent Gde Agung explained in person about the folk craft industry and Badung tourist destinations to residents and buyers in China that rapid developing China’s economy within the past few years was a very potential market for the marketing of various craft products of the Badung Regency.
According to him, the cooperation and economic relations between China and Indonesia had been developing very rapidly in various sectors. Especially for the local economy of Badung, such cooperation had been developed through tourism sector. Later on, marketing of the craft products posed a further effort to enhance the economic benefits of the economic and trade relations between the two countries for the sake of Badung people.
“In keeping with the progress of China’s economy growing stronger, and even now ranked the second in the world, then the purchasing power of the community is getting larger. As a result, more and more Chinese citizens traveled overseas and collected various objects of art. It is definitely a niche that we want to take advantage for marketing the diverse crafts produced by the community of Badung Regency. Based on the participation in Shanghai Expo, apparently the marketing opportunity of Badung craft products is very widely open that should be achieved through regular promotion,” he added.
Yao Rui, Deputy Director of China Pavilion as the organizer of the Expo Shanghai 2010 praised and appreciated the role of Badung Regency in that international event. According to him, Indonesian pavilion provided a very unique nuance, especially with the presence of Badung craft products that were not solely yielded by machine, but also by strikingly human skill of the craftsmen. His party had confidence the event could enhance the trade cooperation between the two countries, and increasingly opened the trade potential beyond the existing sectors that had been running.
Related to the appreciation of the organizer, the Regent Gde Agung also said that his party was satisfied with the event drawing a great interest of Chinese citizens to visit the Badung Regency and the marketing of craft products of Badung community.
On that occasion the Regent of Badung Gde Agung through Director of the Indonesian Pavilion, Widarma, gave bonus to the seven millionth visitor of Chinese citizen making a visit to the Indonesian Pavilion, particularly Badung Regency, in the form of hotel voucher to stay in one of the hotels in Badung Regency, Bali, for 3 days 2 nights.
